Native app · iCloud sync · On-device AI · No ads, no tracking

Everything in one app

Built for the way pre-meds actually study

The proven spaced-repetition workflow, rebuilt as a fast, beautiful native app for iPhone and iPad.

Proven spaced repetition

An SM-2 scheduler shows each card right before you'd forget it — so you remember more in less time. Again / Hard / Good / Easy, just like you're used to.

Bring or build your own decks

Import the .apkg decks you already use — Synapse rebuilds the subject and chapter hierarchy and renders images and LaTeX — or create your own from scratch, right in the app.

Apple Pencil scratchpad

Work physics and chem problems right beside the card. The scratchpad clears between cards so your reasoning stays with the question it belongs to.

Insightful analytics

See reviews over time, filter by range, and tap any subject to drill in. Spot the topics slipping before they cost you points.

Resource library

Keep your PDFs, notes, and reference docs in nested folders right next to your decks. Open and read without leaving the app.

iCloud sync

Study on iPad at home and review on iPhone between classes. Your decks and progress sync automatically through your private iCloud — no account to create.

On-device AI

A study coach that runs entirely on your iPhone

Synapse uses Apple Intelligence to turn your own study data into real guidance — what to review next, which subjects are slipping, and how your progress looks. Ask it anything about your decks.

  • Grounded in your data. The coach only talks about your real subjects and progress — it won't invent topics or facts.
  • Private by design. The model runs on-device. Your study history never leaves your iPhone or iPad — no servers, no accounts.
  • Works offline. No connection required — coaching is right there during a study session.

Make it yours

Built for the MCAT. Ready for anything.

Create your own decks from scratch — text, photos, and real LaTeX math — and Synapse studies them with the same spaced repetition, AI coaching, and iCloud sync. If it fits on a flashcard, you can learn it here.

  • Text, images & math. Write a question and answer, drop in a photo, and type equations with $…$ — rendered beautifully, even offline. A live preview shows exactly how it'll look.
  • Organize like Anki. Group cards into decks and chapters, then set any one of them as your focus and study just that.
  • One app for everything. Your own cards study, sync, and appear in stats and the coach exactly like imported decks.

Great for so much more than the MCAT:

Anatomy Spanish Bar exam Pharmacology GRE Music theory Histology …anything

MCAT, SAT, ACT & more

One flashcard app for every exam

Synapse works for any test you're prepping for. Import the Anki .apkg decks you already own, grab a free demo deck, or build your own — then let spaced repetition and the on-device AI coach do the heavy lifting.

Good to know

Frequently asked

Can I use my AnKing or MileDown deck?

Yes. Synapse imports standard Anki .apkg files that you already own — just export your deck (with “Support older Anki versions” enabled) and open it in Synapse. We don't redistribute third-party decks; you bring your own.

Is Synapse only for the MCAT?

No. It's tuned for the MCAT, but you can create your own decks — or import Anki decks — for anything you need to remember: other exams like the SAT, ACT, LSAT, GRE, bar, and boards, plus languages, anatomy, vocabulary, and music theory. The spaced repetition, photos and LaTeX, AI coach, and sync all work the same. See every exam.

Is the AI coaching private?

Completely. The coach runs on-device using Apple Intelligence. Your study history is never uploaded — there are no servers and no account. It also works offline.

Does my data sync between iPhone and iPad?

Yes — your decks, cards, and progress sync automatically through your private iCloud account. There's nothing to set up beyond being signed into iCloud.

What devices do I need?

Synapse is a universal app for iPhone and iPad. The on-device AI coach requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence; everything else works without it.

How much does it cost?

Synapse is free to download and use — 5 card reviews a day and up to 100 cards, with every feature included. Premium removes those limits for $79.99/year (with a 7-day free trial) or a one-time $99.99 lifetime unlock. See pricing for details.
